Scrap booking on a budget is really easy, simple and most importantly CHEAP! There are already loads of item around your home that you could use to get started with out even putting a foot outside your door. To start with get a box or container that you can keep all of your stationary stuff in. This keeps it organised and separate from everything else.

First look around your home for little bits you will need. Pens, pencils, coloured pieces of paper, glue, scissors, card (a cardboard box is always handy). Have a really good look around because before you start to buy anything you need to know what you haven't got. You`ll be surprised at how much stuff you actually have. If you do not have some of the essential items used for scrap booking like scissors or glue, buy them from a cheap store like pound land or tescos where they are normally very cheap and sometimes in packs.

When you have all the equipment you need to begin, the next step will be planning. What are the pages going to be made up of? Will they be family day trips out and holidays? Memories from when you were little. Or simply just day-to-day events that occur to keep with you forever (like a diary). If you simply cannot choose do everything. A page for holidays, birthdays, days out all into different sections with a contents at the front.

When you begin never throw anything away. All your little scrap pieces of paper or magazine pictures that are slightly jagged, keep. They may come in very handy in the future when you want to do a certain theme on a page but have nothing to use. There are many themes on the Internet to help you use your scrap pieces of paper. In the end your scrapbook will look exactly how you want it to, with very little money thrown out of the window.

On the subject of not throwing stuff away, think outside the box. Keep old food packaging, clothes, and shoes all the rubbish that you think can be used. Cut out the segments that you think you can use. Like a picture on the crisp packet, the shoelace that is long enough to go round your whole page (makes a good border)

During your making, if you find something you need for example a few different types of stickers. Write a list of all the items you want and look around for the best deals. Jumping straight onto the first price you see may have you kicking yourself when you find it half the price a week later and with more in it.

There are so many ways to keep the cost scrap booking down. If you're lost in any way you can go on the Internet for helpful hints. Or if your computer time is very limited go to the library and borrow a book. That way your not spending hundreds of pounds on books that you'll read once. If you really like the book and find it incredibly useful then you can go and buy it knowing it is worth every penny.
