How to Scrapbook on a Budget -

1. DON'T buy embellishments, make them. From recycled foil tops of food packages to dropping bits of hot glue and embossing them with an Armor-All coated rubber stamp.

2. Use paper from the dollar store. Why spend up to $1.50 on a piece of paper when you can get 10 pieces of plain white for $1.00 and have lots of fun painting, doodling or rubber stamping it in your own style and color combinations.

3. Recycle magazine ads. Use the lettering and the pictures for elements on your page.

4. Journal directly on notebook paper, which costs about $1.29 for 100 sheets, write, cut and adhere or insert with brads, onto your scrap book page. When used throughout the scrapbook it becomes a unifying element of the book.

5. Use "bad" pictures, cut out the good elements and adhere them on a page with a "good" picture from the same photo shoot, or use them as an offset behind the "good" picture for added interest.

6. Use an ad for layout inspiration. They are professionally blocked. No need to buy expensive inspiration books.

7. Learn to use digital scrap-booking kits. They have so much for so little - they are really a bargain. You don't have to be a digital scrapper - you can use them to print out papers and elements that you can reuse. When you become very proficient, you will eventually be able to "recolor" and with some kits "resize" the files in Adobe Photoshop or some other graphic editing program.

8. Use your computer for locating inexpensive bargains. The creative industry is all about the "latest and greatest" products so clearance is an every day word on the Internet shopping sites - take advantage of it.
