Scrapbooking on a Budget

From my experience, I have found that I spent quite a bit of money getting alot of beginner supplies, and now that I have them, I don't spend much at all. I'll tell you ways I have become a scrapmiser!

One way I became a scrapmiser is to go to secondhand stores or thrift stores, and find embellishments for practically nothing! For Instance, I went to a Goodwill store and found full spools of ribbon in several different colors for 15 cents each! I was elated to find this great bargain, so I ended up getting about 30 spools of ribbon.

One thing I do that doesn't cost me a penny is when I get birthday cards, holiday cards, or any greeting cards in the mail, I actually cut things off of them and reuse them. Think about it...you are actually recycling greeting cards thus saving trees while you are having fun!

Another thing you can do, is when you or your child have some clothes that get a nasty tear in them, you can use the material in your scrapbooks or in handmade greeting cards.

Shop around. There are so many products that I have wanted to buy for my scrap booking and card making hobbies, and after I purchase them, I end up finding the exact same thing for half the price some where else. For instance, I bought a hole puncher (by Fiskars) from Stampin Up for $8.95 plus shipping....I found it at Joann's Fabric for $4.95 plus 50% off, a week later. So if there is something you are considering buying for your hobby, shop around before you buy, especially if you are on a budget!

Many times, I simply look around the house, and find all kinds of things that I can use to make things look very cute and impressive. So you really do not have to spend alot to be a scrap booker or handmade greeting card maker!
