Once you begin scrap booking you will soon discover that you need to have some way to keep everything organized and at your fingertips. You don't want to waste precious scrapping time looking for what you want when you are in a creative frame of mind. No matter what your budget, size of your scrapbook space or your personal taste, there are many ways to meet your storage and organizational needs. You don't need to spend a lot of money on fancy organizers to have a fun and functional workspace. The key is to design a workspace that is functional for you and allows your creative juices to flow freely.

Start by purchasing a table or desk that can become your permanent work station. If you don't have room for the permanent placement of a table or desk, consider buying a fold down table. The goal here is to have a specific work area. When using the dining table, counter or other designated workspace, chances are you'll have to spend time clearing it off before you can begin your project, or have to take it all down so you can eat your meals or accomplish some other task. You want to avoid having to do this if at all possible.

Next you will want to invest in some shelving. You can use either a wall mounted system or a free standing bookcase. Either way adequate shelving is a must.

Once your table and shelving are in place then you can begin to organize all your supplies. Start by organizing all of your paper supplies. I recommend stackable plastic trays. They are available in various paper sizes. You can also use and accordion or other file system, but you may have difficulty finding a system for larger sized papers. Use some type of system when you organize your paper. You can separate colored paper from printed paper, arrange solely by color palette or a designated theme.

Next put all your pencils, pens and scissors in small containers that can sit on your table. You use these often so you will want quick and easy access to them. Any kind of small bucket or container can work, from old canning jars to smaller terracotta plant containers, all the way to store bought containers designed for this purpose.

If you have several rubber stamps these can easily be stored and organized in clear plastic containers or shoe boxes. To easily identify what stamps are in what box, label the containers by printing a image from each stamp in the box and adhering it to the outside of the box.

For all your eyelets, brads and other small
