Looking for a great scrapbooking project? Document your personal history so that future generations will be able to see what your life was like.

1. Begin by deciding on a tone for your album. Maybe your style is a black album

with black pages and a classic theme. Maybe you would prefer a traditional

scrapbook with white pages. Be sure your decision reflects your taste. After

all, this book is about you!

2. Think about what has been most important in your life. You might find that

making a list is the easiest way to ensure you capture all the important

aspects. Consider the following:

* Where were you born?

* What was your family like? Did you have a large extended family or did you

grow up with just one parent?

* Where did you go to school? What was the best/worst about it? What extra-

curricular activities did you participate in?

* What were holidays like?

* What did you do with your friends?

* If you're married, how did you meet your spouse? What attracted you to

him/her?

Remember, anything that is/was important to you should be included.

3. Gather any pictures you have that relate to the items you decide to include in

your book. Don't have any pictures? Go visit the hospital where you were born,

the school where you went or the park you used to play at every day. It's

likely there have been a lot of changes but that can be another part of your

story!

4. Decide how to organize your story. Some possibilities:

* Do you prefer to document your life in chronological order?

* Was family important to your life? If so, you can group stories related to

each family member.

* Are your favorite memories the holidays? You can create pages for each

holiday, spanning the years.

The only thing that matters is that your decision reflects what is important to

you.

5. Finally, tell your story.

* Do you love to write? Go for it! Place your pictures in the album and fill

up the blank space with your memories.

* Hate your handwriting? Your handwriting says a lot about who you are. Try

to write your story in your own hand. Use lined paper if that helps. If you

can't get past this common issue, type your story and print it on acid free

paper. Keep your stories short enough to make room for pictures.

* Not a writer? Tell your story with pictures. Use captions beneath them so

that anyone viewing the album when you're not there will know why it was

important to you.

Generations to come will cherish your memories.
