Got a scrap-booking club already? Here is a fun way to spice up your next scrap-booking get together. Host a "Scrappin Grab Bag" party! What is it? Each person brings 3-4 photos and two - four 12x12 pieces of paper with some matching embellishments as well as their own scissors and glue. What's the catch? When they get to the party, they are going to draw numbers to decide what pictures they will scrap and with what paper! Will you work on your own photos, absolutely not! The idea is that you make a layout for someone else using their photos with someone else's paper! What a great way to get yourself out of that creative rut or just get your creative juices flowing! And at the end of the party everybody leaves with a completed layout of their photos and hopefully a whole bunch of new ideas to add to their own layouts.

Here are some tips to getting your "Scrappin Grab Bag" party off and running!

1. Invite scrappers who you know are comfortable with someone else creating a layout with their pictures. I usually tell people don't bring your only copies of your favorite pictures, bring the pictures that might not be your first choice to scrapbook right away.

2. All party goers need to bring; their basic scrap-booking supplies (scissors, tape & paper cutter) as well as 3-4 sheets of paper that coordinate together and any matching embellishments. This is a great way to use up those papers that come in a bundle and usually have 3-4 sheets that coordinate together. What we don't want is everyone bringing random paper and embellishments that don't match. That's for the "Clean out the Fridge" party! (Watch for that article to be published soon!)

3.Choose a date and time that everyone can attend. It's always more fun with lots of scrappers! And since your only doing a 2 page layout you won't need to stay up until all hours of the night.

4. As your guests arrive label their paper/embellishment kit with the highest number of people attending and the photos with the lowest number attending. Example - if you have 10 guests, then the first person to arrive would have their paper kit labeled with number 10 and their photos with number 1. The next guest would have their paper kit labeled with number 9 and their photos with number 2 and so on until all paper kits and photos have been labeled. This ensures that your photos don't get matched with your paper kit. No fair cheating and having your photos already match the paper! Where's the fun in that!

5. Once all paper kits and photos have been numbered, then your guests need to draw two separate numbers. One for a paper kit and one for a photo kit. If they draw a number that gives them anything they brought they have to draw again. No fair scrapping your own stuff that takes all the fun out of it!

6. Once everyone has a paper kit and photos it's time to get started! Now for the big question "What do I do about the journaling?" When it comes to the journaling, you can either save that for the layout owner, you can do the journaling yourself or you can title the page and let the owner add the journaling based on your title. I like to give the layout artists all three options and let them choose which one they feel most comfortable with.

7 . Once everyone has completed their layouts, make sure they show off their work to the rest of the group. Now everyone can sit back, relax and enjoy having some of their photos scrapped for them! Have fun and happy scrapping!

And of course don't forget to take pictures of your party! They would make great photos to bring to the "Clean out the Fridge" party!
