I recently reorganized by supplies, after finishing my latest album. I find that when I am on a streak of working on a lot of projects in a row, my supplies become a scattered mess. The first thing I did was to remove everything from my two main cabinets. I then moved to my plastic drawers. Each type of supply needed its own method of organization. The big surprise was how many supplies I had that I had forgotten about. Keeping thing well organized can help you use the supplies you have.

Paper

I divide my paper into solids and patterned paper. I use plastic, vertical paper holders to store my paper. Cardboard magazine holder would work, or shelves. I find that the vertical holders store the most paper, and allow me to quickly look through what I have. By dividing the solid paper by color, I can quickly look for the right shade to match any photos I have chosen. I sort the patterned paper by color and theme. My patterned papers are grouped by color, while others are grouped by theme. I try and keep my themed patterned paper separate, and sort it alphabetically. This way, when I am looking for baseball themed paper, it is easier to find.

Brads and other small embellishments

Keeping these in labeled containers is a huge help. I use a custom container that has small plastic boxes. Each box is labeled with the color of the brad, or a description of what it is. Again, the key is labeling the items and keeping them where you can easily see what you have. Any divided container, like a tackle box will help. Or, you can use a spice rack with small bottles or containers like baby food jars.

Stickers

I own a sticker organizer and try and keep them organized by theme. Anything that makes finding what you want easier will make your project more enjoyable.

My plastic drawers hold my cutting supplies, stamps and stamp pads, and adhesives. By assigning each category its own drawers makes finding what I need much easier.

One other major issue I have is that I own several different brands of page protectors and extension posts. I have tried labeling them and keeping the posts with their matching pages; it is not working thus far! My new method is going to be buying one brand, and one brand only!

I think my favorite for organizing technique is using a plastic folder to pull out supplies for certain projects. When I am doing a themed album, say for our summer trip to the beach, I pull out everything I have to match that theme and put it in the folder. You could use a shoebox or other small container. This way, once you get your photos ready, you have all of your creative supplies at the ready. I have one that is on going for our Cedar Point album. I add to this album after every season, so I just keep all of my amusement park stickers and papers together for quick use.

In my almost 10 years of scrapbooking, I have used many different types of organizational tools. The main thing is to find what works for your and your space, keeping in mind the more organized you are the more effectively you will utilize all of the wonderful materials that you have collected.

Do you know about recycle scrapbooking? I have learnt about recycle craft, but not too sure about recycle scrapbooking, until one day my 3 years old daughter show me her scrapbooking using recycle material that she used to keep her craft and papers. My little angel gave me an idea of we can recycle our children school craft to create a very creative memories craft! Here I share my experience and 7 secret of recycle scrapbooking, if you are a cost saver person, you may find it useful!

Secret #1 Think twice before you throw anything.

Lots of material at home such as color paper divider of your file folders, your childrens' craft work from school, faulty printed paper, tissue paper cover, presents wrapper, ribbons etc if the design is neat, clean and nice looking, keep them for your scrapbooking. You can use them as embellishments or decorations in your scrapbooking. I used to throw all these away, but now I am getting passion on recycle all the them!

Secret #2 Storage for recycle stuff.

You need to have some storage space to keep all your recycle stuff, try to keep in sorted or grouping by same category for easy of searching.

Secret #3 Recycling from other craft.

If you have been doing lots of craft at home, reuse this craft material again to do recycle scrapbooking. For example, if you have created a pencil case craft using recycle cartoon box, cut out excess area of cartoon box into A5 paper size and paint some beautiful flowers or insects on it, join all the A5 drawn design together with a threading string or folder rings to create a mini scrapbook album.

Secret #4 Recycle Scrapbooking paper excess from previous scrapbook.

Reuse the scrapbooking paper that was excess from previous scrapbook. You can create a new design by using the excess scrapbooking paper. This can be done by doing patching or overlapping pasting different paper on top of each to create an unique look!

Secret #5 Recycle your digital scrapbooking or computer scrapbooking.

You can reuse your same computer scrapbooking printed layout on another new scrapbook topics. Note that you also can recycle scrapbooking digitally besides recycling the printed layout. Scrapbooking Captures Precious Moments and Memories

In my opinion, this is the most wonderful thing about scrapbooking. The best way to explain it is with a quick story.

When I first started scrapbooking, my grandma was the person in my family most interested in my layouts. Every time she came over we would look through them together and she would point out the things she liked the most.

She was so interested that I finally decided to make a scrapbook with her. We put in photos of us together along with mementos of all the special times we could think of. It took a few weeks to finish, but we had a great time.

Two short months later she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and quickly slipped away. Iâ€™m so thankful that we were able to make that scrapbook together. Because now, whenever I miss her, I can just look through that scrapbook and smile at all the precious memories.

Scrapbooking is admittidly my new favorite hobby. An expensive hobby at that. Browsing through the craft store I always pick out a handful of stuff and am always surprised at how much it cost as I'm exiting.

I found a great way to save money is to buy in bulk on e-bay. There are lots of wholesales of craft supplies that sell at discounted rates, and do combined shipping and have all sorts of deals. I have found things that I wanted on "Best Offer" deals and have been able to negotiate a price.

Another thing I found is Craigslist.com. A lot of users buy extra things and then need to unload them for cheap. Another great way to buy in bulk. Even if you get some things that you don't like or wouldn't use, you can just unload them the same way you got them to recover some of your money. Put together all of your extra things and sell that as a bulk package!

Also, a great way for holiday themed pages in your book is to wait about 2 weeks after the holiday. Then after that long go to the store to pick out your holiday items, they'll all be on sale. I picked up all my Easter page items for at least 25% each item, some 50%!
